Popularity. It's been part of life since the beginning of time. Beginning school and if you happened to be enjoying making daisy chains on your own everybody decided you were some kind of leper. If you wanted to eat your lunch alone at secondary school you were instantly labelled as rude and snobby. If you go to the cinema solo when you're an adult, you're considered a loner. What is it with appearing like you have all the friends in the world all the time? I don't want to be surrounded by people every second, sometimes I just want to be that loner everybody assumes you are.
Going to the cinema without somebody interjecting every five minutes with "hey, that's that bloke from that show" (admittedly, that's also me when I go to the cinema) is pure freedom.
Going shopping and not having to justify every purchase - "of course I need another variation of a red-orange lipstick" is perfection.
Eating alone in a restaurant whilst everybody else around you gives you concerning looks, though you know you're in the winning seat. You don't have to deal with small talk and you definitely don't have to fight over the cost of the bill.
Honestly, going it alone sometimes is the best. Just maybe don't go to the cinema alone on Valentine's, because that really is questionable.
